It seems like blonde girls can raise their arms without being ebarrased but drk haired girls even though our underarms are shaved-somehow you can still see through the thin skin- I have heard of lazer treatments but what else is there that is less scary?I wear tank tops still in the summer but just once I would like to show off my armpits when I put my hair up or something in front of someone- I'm too embarrased. I also sweat alot in the summer and can only wear drk colors because of the embarrasing sweat marks - i would love it if I could wear pink,yellow,light blue all that girl stuff,but no I have to wear shirts that where you can't notice if I sweat. I'm only 20 lbs over weight so it's nothing to do with my weight - I wear lots of deoderant anti presperint whatever you call it stuff and it does'nt stop me from sweating how embarrasing - I hate my armpits - I wish somebody would use me as a guinea pig and do the lazer treatment on me and fix me please - help me out?

There is a laser treatment for hair removal, but it is expensive. If your skin is dark too, it will change the pigment of your skin though. So the dreaded wax may be your only option :P

you could get some products that make your hair fall out, such as Nair. but be warned, if you do use Nair its smell bad so after use always wash yourself.

I have a horse show coming up and I have been messing around with my hair but I can't get it to fit under my cowboy hat. I really don't want to cut my hair unless I have to. Whenever I put the hat on with out trying to get my hair under it, it fits perfectly fine but when I try to french braid it and then pin the end up to keep it under the hat and from showing, there is never enough room. Any suggestions?? (Because I don't want to buy a new hat unless I have to because the one I have is really cool and unique.)

Rather than destroying a hat, consider doing a bun, with the bun high onyour head. The bun would rest under the crown of the hat and be unseen.

DO NOT DO THIS! all this will do is make you sick. put peroxide all over your hair and sit in the sun or under a dryer for a while. or go to the salon and have them use hair bleach. ive had hot pink hair on my dark brown, too. best method is have them bleach it then go to a hair place(like Sally Beauty Supply) and get a bottle of pink hair dye.

Hi I'm 12 years old and my mom and I went to a hair cutting shop. My mom was going to have her hair cut (again.) While one of the people who works there is cutting my moms hair. I'm going through one of the styling books that shows what you can do with your hair. They all looked pretty good, some were kinda strange though...Anyway, I didn't see too many styles that you can do with my hair,(very frizzy and curly, and shoulder length and up.) The lady who was cutting my moms hair saw my face and said things about it blah blah blah. But then she said I should have my hair relaxed so it would be straight. She said, 'you're 12 and I think it's time to do something with that hair.' I was like wow-yay! Someone actually thinks I'm old enough to do this! My mom set a date to have my hair relaxed in August. The lady said it wouldn't damage my hair if it was done right. Is she hiding something? What else will it do to my hair?

It's good to trust your stylist when getting any chemical services, because beauticians will have a license and a certain amount of classroom hours before they can work on anyone's head. You have more choices than you think for wearing your hair even if it is super corse and curly. You might want to consider trying braids and twists as a natural alterantive to chemical staightening, however those methods can be costly. Many people relax their hair and as a stylist myself, I've always advised using good professional hair products (which your own hair dresser can recommend to you) to maintain the health of your hair and scalp. I'm sure whatever you decide will turn out alright as long as your mother is confident in her beautician. Good luck.

Just about anything you do to your hair can damage it... but relaxing can do wonders to your hair. If she has experience with your type of hair... and what i mean is... is she a black hairdresser or does have experience with your type of hair? I am being very serious about this... there are many hairdressers who will tell you they can do something but in reality they don't have the experience. So good luck and I hope you like your hair when its done... it will require upkeep to keep it straight... and hopefully she will go over all that with you and your mom.

Is this the grey that was originally covered up ? if it is it sounds as though you did not have a permanent colour put in and you need to get a permanent colour.

if it's not the above it your regrowth of new hair, it sounds as though your hair grows quite quick.

my mom has the same problem. sometimes she will use mascara to fill in the Grey.(in between her bi-weekly dye job) as she has dark hair, but ya she complains about it all the time. Bummer, hope you find something...oh maybe your using shampooo that is stripping the dye more quickly, try using shampo for chemically treated hair...

My hair grows really fast and I am quite grey at the front.

I have to have it couloured every 2 weeks I do my roots myself and am quite adept at it!

I have tried highlights but looks like nice streaked hair with grey roots! I have gone lighter to make it less obvious but my natural coulor was dark brown so cannot go too light.

For me there was no answer except go grey or colour regularly.

Hi no it should not be growing through unless you have hair that grows really fast, which I think is unlikely the most hair grows is 1cm per month. Maybe your getting it coloured just as the hair grows, or the dyes they are using is not enough to cover the grey you have. I find hair dressers not that good either, They tend to do what they want to your hair not the other way round. You will save alot of money not going to them. I would try using a home dye, Like garnier Nutiresse. If you leave these on for at least 40 mins you will get execellent coverage, If you have noone to do it for you, its easy to do yourself, but I recommend you get 2 boxes, if you have thick or long hair you will need 2 anyway in the same colour, but if you havent this is just to make sure you wont miss anywhere if you do it on your own as if you have two there will be plenty to cover each strand of hair. If you get the same results your grey showing through within a week then it could just be youur hair is resiliant to hair dye, But I think you should be ok with doing it with home dyes. Maybe the hairdresser hasnt covered all your grey properly to start off with.

If they are not help full dont use them anymore, and if you dont want to risk doing it yourself at home, then find another hairdresser. Its worth a try doing at home first, see if you get the result you want. You can always get your roots retoouched at the hair dressers.

I suggest you go with the advice from Zelhasta, which was 3 hours ago. She is right. I'm guessing you are a woman with the same problems as I've had. I colour my own hair these days. It's not that bad and you soon get used to it, plus it's cheaper and you can do it when you want and not have to wait for an appointment. I use a semi permanent colour because I'm on steroid for a health problem and permanent colours aren't advised as they could make my hair fall out. I have very thick, strong hair, so it's difficult to colour and I need to use two bottles. Semi permanents usually last about 3 weeks with me. I colour just the white areas first and leave the colour on for 20 minutes. Then I cover the whole lot including the already coloured areas and leave for around 30 minutes - it does advise this in the instructions and I use Clairol Nice N Easy, non-permanent, by Loving Care lasts 6 - 8 shampoos. Always choose a colour just slightly lighter than your own as it will generally end up darker than shown on the box. In the weeks afterwards use a colour protecting shampoo and condition like Alberto VO5 Fade defy - these will help your colour to last a little longer. Also remember, if you wash your hair everyday, the colour will soon fade anyway. Hope this helps.

I have a similar issue. i am about 70% grey and within a week or so I notice my regrowth. I do my hair at home with professional colour.

If it regrowth, the only thing you can do is do a touch up at home as often as needed. Get a tint brush and only apply to the re growth though. I do this every 3 weeks.

If the grey is breaking through on areas that were coloured over it could be 3 things. 1 semi permanent colour, 2. your shampoo (make sure to use a special shampoo for colour treated hair, NOT a cleansing shampoo, I find Nexxus botanoil to be great) 3. your colour mixture, in order to ensure grey coverage you must have some of your natural shade in the colour mix. I use 2:1 red to my natural dark brown.

to make your colour last, do not wash it for at least 2 - 3 days after you've had it coloured.

Wear some nice cornrows or twist, braids, or get a nice slight perm, to lossen your curls, if they get to tight. Don't relax (perm) your hair at all, it will mess up the texture, it looks beautiful in the picture, Get some type of frizz serum, like John Freida or something, or why don't you just find a natural hair care salon in your area, I think that would be your best bet.

My hair is natural but I am African American so though I can use their shampoos and conditioners, I can not use their leave-ins because they do not make them heavy enough. To control frizz and volume I buy a $5 bottle of Cantu Shea Butter leave in conditioner from walmart and it works better than stuff I've bought for 7 times as much (seriously).

Last week on the Martha Stewart show, they were talking about using rosemary oil on hair for dry scalp. The weather in Ohio is so dry right now, and I was looking for a little advice.

I've read a couple of ways to do the treatment, but I never got to watch the "result" on Martha's show. The lady said to put it on your hair and let it sit overnight and brush in the morning. (I think.)

I like to shower at night... would this ruin the treatment by putting it on wet hair? And if I don't wash my hair the night before, would it leave my hair greasy-looking?

as far as washing your hair, I think it actually will ruin your treatment, because when you are washing your hair, you are actually taking out the oil, and believe me, your air are going to stink in the morning, for greasy looking hair, yes your hair will look kind of greasy, but try to make a bun, it will completely hide the oiliness, if you have short hair, then try spiking them ,they would look greasy, yes, but that actually looks rich.

You need to bleach your hair first if you want to ensure that it will stay light. Light colors have trouble showing up in darker hair, so bleach it blonde before you do anything.

Heres what i'd do: Buy peroxide to bleach it blonde, and also buy brown hair color or whatever color is your normal color, so if it looks a mess you can put it back immediately.

I would have to say yes you would look good blonde. You already look like you have a lot of blonde in your hair.

My suggestion though, if you go blonde, don't do the dark eyeliner like that. Never looks right on blondes. Blondes need to keep their makeup simple to keep even tones.

Okay, I've got magenta hair right now and I didn't bleach it. I got dye from Sally's that is for dark hair only -- I think it's Revlon -- and mixed 30 and 40 strength developer. If you use dye made for dark hair, it should work fine.

Alas, the dye I used only comes in natural colors (+ magenta, for some reason...). So I don't really know....

I have dark hair (obviousily) and when I first went to the beauty salon I wanted some highlights. I actually got "Ash Blonde" highlights. It actually looked good with my dark hair, believe it or not. My hair looked like a brown color when really I just had put some highlights on it. My advice is to ALWAYS get it done by a professional. I never do my own hair when it comes to colors and chemicals because I am not a hair expert. So, I would recommend you get your hair done at a salon then buying a cheap box of dye from the convenient station.

Conair has this great product. i tried it and it works. it's called conair pro color accents, and it comes in lots of different colors and washes outin the shower. the color comes in cartreges and you put it itno this hair styler and run it through your hair. check conair.com. or for a cheaper version of that, buy the bratz pro color hair accents. it is just like the conaire thing, but the colors are more vibrant and it costs less. you would find the bratz one in most Toys R Us stores. the bratz hair color also washes out easily.

well pink at the tips of your hair is really "in" right now. you can make koolaid with half as much water as normal and soak the tips of your hair in it for 15 min. It will stay pink for like a month If you decide you dont like it, you can always just cut a few inches off your hair and no one will ever know.

If you have thin hair you definitely do not want to get it layered. It will just take bulk out of your hair that you need. What I recommend is a bob. Just one length all the way around. You could also get an undercut. That is where the underside is a smidge shorter than the top so that way it curls under. They are both very cute hair styles. But, I definitely would not go the layered route.

try layers. those r "in" right now make hair look thicker. u can cut it a little shorter or get a pixie cut. if u do get layers, flip out the ends and put a little lump on ur head with the front peices of your hair. (the lump like u see on some peoples avatars) if u dont want layers, just flip out the ends or wear it in pig tails. u could also try a bun with some cute choptix. or try a wide headband. also there is some thickening hair cream/gel. there is also a cream that makes ur hair grow faster and fuller. i dont know what they r called but u can look them up. ive seen them @ most drug stores, hair supply places, and target or wal-mart.

I've gotten some Jessica Simpson 23" wavy hair extensions (clip in) for Christmas!

They were fitted for me to match my hair colour and I was shown how to apply them. I have long hair anyway and they completely blended, I was shocked at how natural they looked and felt ! Yay !

lol. However, the woman said they may tangle easily and I should spray with a spray-in conditioner and take good care of them when I don't have them in.

I Have pre-relaxed [african american] straight hair. I have streaked it before[only little lite streaks]. and recently i have used a streaking kit to change the whole top half of my head goldish blonde. It would be dangerous to bleach your hair since it is relaxed. If you've already gone over your hair with something that turned it to a permanent golden blonde (and I am assuming that it IS bleach), then it's likely that a strong pink dye will show. Special Effects Atomic Pink is a very strong dye and I'm pretty sure it will show up on your hair. It's a bright neon pink and lasts a pretty long time. Since it's semi-permanent it won't damage your hair any further.

Last month I decided I wanted to go a little lighter for the summer so I picked up Feria "Hi-Lift Browns" in Downtown Brown, which was a lighter brown. I dyed my hair and to my horror it came out blonde! So a month later, last week, I went to the salon to have them color my hair back to medium brown and get a little trim. When she was washing the dye out I noticed she kept shampooing.. then she gave me the mirror! I wanted to scream! The top of my hair was medium brown and the ends were BLACK. She showed me that the hair was elasticy and you could pull the ends apart. So she had to cut a lot of my hair off. It looks healthier now with layers, okay I guess. But the bottom's darker than the top and I HATE THAT!

Well my point is *I'm looking for a product to condition with every week or so that will undo the damage to my hair* and make it grow. It hasn't grown in months. How is Pantene Pro-V Restoratives? Help! Thanks!

Hair dilemma!?

I can help you with all of this. The reason your ends came out so dark was your stylist did a bad job. She should know this but maybe wasn't thinking. The ends will pick up color faster. So you should always color them last. Meaning, when you apply the color you would leave the ens until your hair has processed about half way or so then apply color at the ends or they will get darker.

The reason your hair may have come out blond when you did it is because one of two reasons. They have a 40 vol developer which will lift and lighten. So your med brown turned blond. Or it has medals in the color and it will attach to your hair. I am not sure if over the counter colors have that anymore. But if they do you will never be able to get a perm because of the chemical reaction you get from it mixing with the medal in your hair. My guess is it had a stronger developer.

Ok now for your hair growing and what you can do for damage. You hair should grow 1/2 inch a month sometimes more in summer. Hair and nails pick up in growth from spring until fall. If your hair seems it is not growing my guess is that it is growing but breaking off. Or the damage that was done from processing has done this.

First you need to use professional products. Over the counter has mostly water and wax, Trust me I know what I am saying and I am not making a dime telling you this. They also have what you want called a reconstuctive treatment. This will help with the damage you now have. You can decide what brand you want to go with but get something for damaged hair or processed hair and a reconstructive treatment also. I will tell you how to do the treatment.

1 Wash hair (professional products)

2 Apply the treatment

3 cover hair with bag if long and cap for short hair.

4 Apply heat with hair blower or alike until your head is hot.

5 Cover head with towel and let slowely cool, then rinse.

NEVER RINSE YOUR HAIR WHILE HOT, your hair can break off.

If you want your hair to grow please get your hair trimed every 6 to 8 weeks. This is so important. If you don't the splits will get worse and continue to split until the hair breaks at the weakest point and thus shorter hair and frizzy.

I care or I wouldn't take so much time typing all this out. That's why I get on here when I can so I can be of help. More stylist need to inform people how to do things. I always did for my customers. Good Luck.

You can now buy professional color at sallys. That way you will be putting good color in your hair. All processing will do some damage, but it will be much less and if using good products your hair will be beautiful. I wouldn't do any more for a while until you get the damage under control.

When you wash your hair you are washing color off. . .there is nothing you can do about this. I would recommend lessening your shampoo's and don't wash your hair for at least 3 days after coloring it. Allow the color to absorb on to your hair. Also store bought color is not intense like professional color used in the salon. Say "NO to DRUG. . . . . . STORE PRODUCTS". Get it done professionally.

You have to bleach your hair first - only bleach the parts you want to be dyed a bright color.

If you bleach your hair, it'll probably turn out orange since you have black hair. So you could go get it professionally done (buy the red/blue dye first and bring it with you, Hot Topic has good quality dye) or you could try "White Out" bleach which might be carried at Hot Topic.

red, you will need a pretty bright red, and still yet it's not giong to be perfectly red but it will have a really nice tint. blue would not work. but if u watned blue highlights bleach them first then put the blue on.

in order to allow those pigments to show up in black hair, we strip those areas with bleach, and then use the color as a stain, you may need to re-apply the bleach another time to fully strip the black out to the shade of:( the inside of a banana peel). Then foil in the desired pigment mixture.

If your hair is naturally black then it will be really hard to make your hair color turn into a color that you want. The best way to see results when you dye your hair is bleaching it(which will make your hair lighter or blonde). If you just want to use bleaching hair dye that you get from the stores then go ahead but you will have to buy a lot of them because your hair is black. My hair was just a darkish brown color, length that is 4-6 inches until it reaches my waist, and I had to buy 3-4 boxes just to make it blonde enough so that the color I wanted will show. Other than that, you can go to the salon and they can do all of that for you. If you just want it to be a little lighter than black then just try 2-3 bottles/boxes first. the quality is a tad pathetic, but it works, and you can change your chosen hair in to different basic colours.

blonde is pretty and its hard to get it back to normal with a drastic change like that....

also, when parting your hair.......try getting a shower at night every nite for a week or so instead of the morning and pin your hair (with clips, bobby pins, etc) the way you want it to be parted...this will "train" you hair to do what you want it to

Ok, so I really want my hair done, and i fancy a bit of a change. So I'd really like it to look SCENE. I have red hair and school doesn't approve of dyeing, so I will most likely just get blonde highlights. How do you think I should ask for it when I go to the hair salon, or even better, have you any photos which i could possibly take to show what I mean?

If they don't like dyeing, what about bleaching? That doesn't add color, just takes it away. You could bleach streaks if you want something more subtle. Or dye it black, that's still a human color.

It can vary greatly. I've seen it as low as $30 to as high as $250! It depends a lot on the salon. Call ahead and they can give you their price range (it can vary in the salon based on if you have long or short hair, partial or full color, etc). The best way to go about getting your hair colored is to have a color already picked out from a magazine. If you're unsure, bring a couple of colors you're thinking about in and let the stylist help you decide. Otherwise, the color that your stylist is describing in her head, may be totally different from how it sounds in your head. Oh, and yes, they usually have hair magazines with lots of colors in them or actual hair samples, but I like picking my color out early so I don't feel like I'm making them wait on me to make up my mind!

First it all depends on where you go.. if the salon is an "upscale type" then expect to pay more.. and depending if you just want to dye it or get it highlighted or lowlighted. . then the hi/lowlights would cost most.. so we went to the salon today, and i brought my computer to show the lady a few pictures of how i wanted my hair done [they were of my old neighbor who moved away but came to visit] and she told me to bring them up while she did something real quick. so i brought them up and my mom was standing there saying stuff like "i dont like it..it wont look the same on you" and i was like "well shell fix that to make it look good" but she kept going on and on and started saying stuff about the girl..like "she has a huge forhead and is going bald...shes not that pretty" and i was like "umm...u jsut like her hair" but she was like "shut up. blah blah" so i said again "i dont care i like her hair and i want to get it" she yelled "SHUT UP! YOU DONT GET THE LAST WORD I DO!" so i was like "but what are we arguing about?" and she goes "SHUT UP!!!!" personally, i think she was jealous of the girl becasue she is really pretty and she was kinda the popular girl back in school

Sounds a bit strange to me. I am a mother of 2 kids, one of whom is a 9 year old girl (my son is 18). My daughter has extremely long hair and it tangles easily because it is so fine. I have tried to encourage her to cut it into a style that is more easily manageable and still makes her feel pretty. She begs me not to cut her hair. Others try to tell me, when they see how difficult it is to keep the tangles at bay, that I should insist on cutting her hair. I tell them that it is my DAUGHTER'S hair, not mine or anyone else's. It is SHE who has to look at it each day in the mirror and SHE who has to wear it and style it. It is SHE who has to feel good about herself when she looks in the mirror, and if she feels best with super long hair, then so be it. I let her have her hair the way she likes it. When her hair is brushed and tangle-free, it is quite beautiful and she gets many compliments on it.

My point to this is that I think your mother over-reacted and tried to be too controlling. There comes a point as a parent when you need to allow your children to choose for themselves, and how they choose to wear their hair is one of those things. Now if you were trying to go outside half naked, as many teenagers and young women do these days, THEN I could see your mother having a thing to say about that if you live in the same home under her rules. But for crying out loud, this is just hair !! It's not like you were being immodest, or making a statement with your appearance. You were merely trying to choose a style that you felt you would enjoy having and would look good on you.

Your mother was wrong. You can't tell her that however, or you will be disrespectful. What you CAN do is to ask the stylist to keep the photo and see if she can find a similar hairstyle for you in those hairstyle books that are often in hair salons. Perhaps the stylist can take your facial features, hair color and texture and find the style most suitable for you, which most closely resembles the photo you brought. If it is not the photo of the neighbor your mother apparently doesn't like, then it might make your mother more accepting of it. The only other idea I can suggest is to talk to another adult who you respect and who your mother might listen to, explain your dilema and ask for their assistance in talking to your mother on your behalf.

My hair is naturally black. I just tried to dye it red/auburn, but it didn't work. It's my first time dying it. I did what the box told me, I put the paste stuff on my hair, I sat and waited for an hour... but my hair is still pure jet black. How come it never worked? Is it because this is my first time?

black hair is nearly impossible to dye.... you are basically putting color on what you already have and if you put sumthing on black it wont show...

the only thing i would suggest is getting a color MUCH lighter than you want... that might be enough to take your hair a lil lighter and reddish

also the semi perminant does have soemthing to do with it...

you will definately need a perminant dye for anything to happen

The colour wasn't strong eonough for your hair. You should get it professionally stripped ( don't just bleach it as your hair can and will fall out) and then put a colour over the top, otherwise you could try a permanent hair colour and leave it on longer than it says howver you have to wait at least a week or you willstress your hair and cause it to break

the darker your hair, the more difficult it is to dye it with the least possible damage.

You have to bleach it first, I'm an Asian with blonde hair. I had to leave my peroxide on for about 60-90 minutes. Because, black is the darkest color, you WILL not be able to just dye it simply, it needs to be weakened to a lighter color. I'm no expert, so please check this out first. I think because it is non permanent hair dye, it probably does not have any peroxide. Peroxide bleeds out your natural color from the hair and then the dye color redeposits where the natural color used to be. (That's what my friend, a hairdresser, told me years ago) Most, if not all, haircolors have a phone number you can call on the box or listed on the instructions. Call that number, they can tell you more.

Your hair probably is reddish, but you won't see it until you're in the sunlight or intense light.

Your hair is very dark, therefore it cannot grab the colour. Your base colour will be the black. What you will see is a red sheen or highlight to the hair.

Unfortunatly you will need to find a hair dying product that will work on dark hair, often red or auburn such as you used will not work on such dark hair as i have tried it before. Next time leave it in over time than the instructions say, it should help to keep it in. it's hard to colour the jet black hair. Especially if you do it at home... and the colour that you used it non-permanent... it wont show anything to your hair.... unless you have light hair colour.

But you can try to colour it again with permanent colour, and follow the instruction....

tip: buy the bright auburn colour, so when you apply it to your black hair,it still show the colour... it wont be too bright...

Or, You better go to professional salon to colour your hair.

Because hair dresser know to achieve the colour that you want, and they have special trick to do it....

But don't bleach your hair, unless you want very2 bright colour.

I think if your stylist is professional enough, he should know how the behind goes.....for the first picture, the hair is usually cut in a lot of layers behind and it tapers down the center. It looks really great. I think the second picture calls for a shorter haircut. They both look good, but they are different cuts. You could take pint outs of both cuts and show it to him/.her and then he/she could suggest which one would suit you best.

DO NOT DO THIS! all this will do is make you sick. put peroxide all over your hair and sit in the sun or under a dryer for a while. or go to the salon and have them use hair bleach. ive had hot pink hair on my dark brown, too. best method is have them bleach it then go to a hair place(like Sally Beauty Supply) and get a bottle of pink hair dye.

for permanent- color charm (absolute best)

for temporary(anywhere from 2weeks to 8months)- Beyond The Zone or Jazzing(i know jazzing has a good pink color)
