1. Style your hair the way you normally would. Use a product such as mousse or gel and either air dry or use a diffusing hair dryer on a cool air setting. Second day hair is fine if your roots are not too oily.

2. Section your hair into lots of even pieces and secure them with non-metal ties or braids.

3. Always begin with the underneath pieces of hair and work your way to the crown or top of your head.

4. Using a large barreled curling iron on low heat, take one section and place the end of your curl near the handle of the iron. Do not open the clip of the iron; simply and loosely wrap the entire section around the outside of the barrel, making sure to overlap the end so it will stay.

5. Hold the hair for up to a minute, then carefully remove it from the iron (more or less as to the thickness of your hair). Since the hair is not clipped to the iron, it may fall off the iron. Just carefully wind it around again and hold.

6. Repeat for every section.

7. Do not comb through. Using your fingers, carefully relax the curls into waves. Toss your hair and spray it lightly with a flexible hold finishing/shining hair spray if needed.
