Changing hair color advice?

I want to dye my hair from blond to a brunette but I am not sure what color of brunette I should change it to. I definitely don't want to look like a plain jane. So, I have two questions:

1) anyone here a professional hair stylist that can give me advice if I show you a picture of myself?

I have fair skin but not extremely fair with green eyes and natural dark blond/light brown hair.

2) anyone know a website (that isn't clairol) that I can see what my hair would look like a different color. One like the adobe application that changes your own hair color instead of putting wigs on and that is free.

Thanks!

As a hairstylist, I will tell you that where I work we use the Redken color gels. They are awesome. However if you are going from a blonde to a brunette let it be known that you might be paying a little extra because you have to fill in the lost pigment of the hair. Our hair is made up of all the primary colors(red, yellow, blue). Usually when people go blonde they use bleach and that it what takes away the pigment of the hair. It strips it away. I would suggest using 1/2 oz of 7nw and 1 1/2 oz of 6nw(nw=naturally warm) in the redken colorgels and then you might be able to avoid the filler. I currently colored my bleached hair to brown with that series. The nw series has red undertones in it which creates the warmth which is also the missing pigment went doing a reversal. The 7 means dark blonde and the 6 is a light brown.

I could help you. If i could see your picture i could tell you. I cut and design hair for a living. It could depend on the shape of your face as well... if the color that you dye it is too dark it will make your face look heavier. Also, one thing that you should always remember is the cut and style of your hair. If the cut is short, like the bob cut, with bangs in the front or side then it would look very cute as a darker more richer color of brown.
