Can blue hair dye be mixed with brown hair dye for an interesting color?

I know that hair dyes do not work like paint, but I was wondering if anyone has tried mixing Blue (Special Effects brand) dye with L'Oreal Dark Ash Brown dye.

(The dark ash brown will probably show up close to black on my hair since it is fairly light blonde right now)

Im hoping for a dark bluishblack tone??

Either I would mix the blue dye with the brown dye. Or, dye my hair blue then put the brown over it?

Thanks.

Mixing hair dye is not something I would recommend. Depending on the base and brand, you could end up with something very strange and not at all like you want it to look. Back in high school I mixed red and brown dyes together - I was hoping for a dark red, but my hair turned bright purple.

it'd probably be a greenish purplely dark color

It will definitely turn into a blackish colour.

If you want an unique colour for your hair that over the counter dye products don't offer, go to a salon.

there is a real hair color called blue black. you probably won't find it in the stores. maybe you should go to the hairdresser and ask about this color, and maybe they can help you. i know that their is such a color because my cousin married a woman with black hair that had blueish highlights, and it was her natural color.

If you're unsure what color it will turn your hair, you should dye a small, hidden portion to test it out. That way you haven't ruined your hair if it isn't the color you had hoped for.
